I’m delighted to share the news that I’ve been chosen as a finalist for Financial Adviser of the Year at the Women in Finance Awards 2018.
These awards, hosted by Growth Business, are designed to celebrate the high-achievers, advocates and role models for women in the finance sector. The Women in Finance Awards aim to level the playing field for early-to-mid career women in the sector.
Nominations for these awards closed in April, resulting in 793 submissions across the 20 categories; competition in each category was very tough!
The rigorous vetting process has resulted in 221 finalists being selected across all categories. Judges have apparently already chosen the winner in each category, after meeting this month to decide.
We don’t get to find out the names of the winners until the black-tie gala ceremony which is being held on 27th June at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
Within the Financial Adviser of the Year category, judges are looking for a standout financial adviser who has achieved outstanding returns while championing financial inclusivity. The award is based on achievements during the year to January.
In deciding on their winner, the judges were looking for evidence to demonstrate a track record of delivering for clients that truly add value, particularly in tough economic times; strategic counsel to encourage financial inclusion; recommending bespoke products and services for the unique needs of female clients; and proactively championing gender diversity beyond the organisation, for example through mentorship, social media discussions and media appearances.
Looking at the list of finalists for Financial Adviser of the Year, it’s good to see individuals representing a mix of smaller and much larger firms. Even an adviser at the Bank of England is represented, with Dr Silvia Pepino on the shortlist.

My very best wishes to the finalists in all of the categories; I look forward to meeting you on the evening.
